We will be taking a cultural tour in Vietnam prior to the Catalyst Foundation's Aid Expedition. On our previous trips we have always had to rush back because of school so this time we decided to go early and see other parts of the country.

August 7
Today did not get off to a good start. Sean threw up after breakfast this morning and slept on and off most of the day so Lee and I took turns staying with him. We are praying that he will be fully recovered by tomorrow.
Last night we flew to Hue (the royal city). We are staying at the only 5 star hotel in the city and are on the 14th floor with a spectacular view of the city. We are in 2 separate rooms because there were no rooms with 2 beds. That's a bit odd but we're making it work.
This morning we visited 2 emperors tombs from the Nguyen Dynasty - Khai Dinh Tomb and Tu Duc Tomb. They were both very elaborate in their design. After the tombs we visited a stand that showed us how they made incense and conical hats. We finished the morning tour by visiting Hue Citadel. We wanted to ride the elephants there but the elephants were on their lunch break.
I spent the afternoon with Sean and then went to dinner with the group to the Royal Park Restaurant. Since we are in the Royal City they had us dress up as royals and we had a royal procession before dinner. The food was fantastic and the garnishes on the dishes were quite elaborate.
Zach spent the afternoon swimming with his friends and running on the treadmill. Apparently he thinks he should start working out (not sure where he got that idea).
Tomorrow we are leaving for Hoi An which is a 2 hour drive.
